Furniture System Engineering

MIX was launched with 6in widths from 48” to 72”, with three different leg styles, dozens of finishes, fabrics and accessories, and even more options today. It was designed as a kit of parts, where most components can be customized to the clients wishes.

It has an unwieldly number of unique combinations, so the largest challenge was developing the methods to generate the construction plan and CAD data for manufacture, just in time. Every chance we had to smartly remove a part, we took. PDF templates with variable dimensions were used to reduce the number of PDF instances to manage, and engineering drawings rework. Original SW files or .steps were often provided to the manufacturer based on the clients configuration and validation package. I was instrumental in the design and planning for these internal processes across all product lines.
